Muffler glowing

I just got a 2014 stanley ch7 chipper/shredder that was only used for about five hours. After i used it for about half an hour, the muffler started glowing. Anyone know what causes this? Also, there is a little catalyitic converter looking thing below the muffler that is marked DPF. I'm curios if that is really a Dpf for a diesel engine or something else.

to me it sounds like the exhaust valve is leaking.

It doesn't sound like it has an exhaust leak and the engine is only 2 years old. it only glows and spits a small flame out of the muffler when i shut it off. i think it might be due to the "DPF" that is on the pipe coming from the mannifold.

Running lean could cause it to glow.

What do the spark plugs 'read like' are they white (lean)  looking ?

Also have you removed the engine blower housing to make sure nothing made a nest under there & clogged up the fins with debris.  That will cause overheating issues.
