Help decoding B&S engine number
I have an old Plymouth snowblower with a 8hp Briggs on it. It wouldn't start so I did all normal checks, good spark, fuel, ect I checked the compression and it had 30lbs. Because this snowblower is in great shape I decided to tear into the engine see what I find. Other than carbon build up on the intake valve they look fine, the bore has some very small scratches nothing running a hone down it cant fix. So I now have everything apart on my workbench. I need to order new seals, piston rings..but when I enter the number I found on the housing it keeps coming up as unknown. the number I found is 19 402 0992-01 78060611 here are some pictures in case I'm missing something.

Reason you are coming with nothing is that you are missing digit in the model number plus it is pre 1982 model. Use 190402-0992-99. As far as honing it should done using a rigid hone as a flex will not correct oval and/or taper cylinder problems; just makes it worst. Also note the .010 and .030 oversize piston and ring sets are NLA; just the standard and .020 oversize available. Any over .005 of wear will require you to .020 over. Anything over .020 then the engine is not repairable.
