I'm new to the forum. Hoping someone can help me out with an issue i'm having.
I picked up a 3.5HP Craftsman edger with a Tecumseh engine from a neighbor. It's in good condition but wasn't running properly. The engine model is 143993502 and the carb is a Tecumseh 640156. It would run for a few seconds and then die. Here is everything I have done to it so far.
1. Replaced the carb with a brand new one including gaskets. I attempted to clean the old one but it was really gunked up.
2. Replaced the spark plug.
3. Changed the oil.
4. Replaced the air filter.
5. Replaced the fuel line and cleaned out the fuel tank.
6. Verified the flywheel key is intact and there is no play in the flywheel.
After lots of priming and lots of pulling, it will now run but not well. I am using fresh gas. I took off the carb bowl and fuel does flow out if the float is hanging down. It does idle but sounds the same. Verified governor and throttle linkages are connected properly.
Here is a video of how it runs.
