GCV 160 headache

I own a splitter that mounted a GCV 160 (vert) they have been hard luck engines 1st one fractured and sucked valve in under 20 Hours (No satisfaction from Honda) 2nd and 3rd in under 40 to 50  hours. One scuffed other vibrated so bad the carb float floods engine. Is there a more reliable, better engine available and any thoughts would be appreciated? Eng mod #GJAEA
Thanks,
Fred

The GCV 160 series is a reasonable engine in most applications although certainly does not hold a candle to the GXV 160 but are you willing to pay the price? Just a few thoughts. Is the engine matched to the pump? Has the pump relief valve been tampered with causing the engine to lug? Is the engine over speeding to get more power out of the splitter? Three engine failures in such a short time points to a problem with the installation or operating conditions.

Thank you Roy; I am the only operator of this 27 ton unit and at the end of last season she was running about 3000 rpm measured optically at the coupling after I did the valve check. I will contact Troy-built as the book has no info on pressure relief and I assumed it was fixed and factory set. I will reassemble with parts from the other 2 and see what happens. Then look into the GXV you mentioned. Thank you for your help and have a great Christmas and New year.
