Pressure Washer Specs

I have a new Generac pressure washer that is rated a 2.7 GPM at 3100 PSI.  I installed an inline gauge to check the performance of the unit and while using the included red nozzle the gauge showed 2600 PSI while flowing water and 2900 PSI when not flowing water.  I expected that the gauge would register 3100 PSI while flowing water as indicated by the specifications.  Have I misinterpreted the indicated performance of this pressure washer?  Thank you in advance.

Hello. For starters, make sure you have gauge that can max at least 4500-5000psi, judging from your max psi on YOUR machine. A higher rating ability on your gauge will give a more accurate reading.

Second, it's normal while your trigger is pressed and water is flowing for your needle to drop in pressure because of the release of pressure build up in the pump.
