5 hp RotoBoss 550 Model #133402

I have recently acquired a White 5 hp RotoBoss 550 Model # 133402 which starts relatively easy and seems to idle well the problem is when I advance the throttle control the engine dies immediately. If I start the engine with the throttle control advanced all the way to rabbit (full throttle) it races to what appears to be full throttle for maybe 1 second then dies. It will restart with the same results again and again. If I move the throttle back to turtle it seems to idle well. Anyone had problems like this with their Briggs and Stratton engine ?

Sounds like lack of fuel, carb may need cleaning. Try spraying some carb cleaner or a little fuel into carb when you throttle up and it starts trying to die. If rpms pick then fuel delivery problem.

Thank you, that's exactly what I did and could keep it running by spraying carburetor cleaner in the carburetor when it began to die. I will give it a good cleaning. Again thank you.
