John Deere

I have a John Deere L122. The last time I used it, it developed a loud noise as though something had caught in the blade. There was nothing there. When I started it again I found the noise only started when I let off on the brake pedal. Does anyone know what may be causing this?

    Sure it's not an L120?
What happened for the loud noise to happen, where was loud noise at? Where is noise at now and what does it sound like?

Mike, I was just cutting my grass in the yard. It only occurs when I let off on the brake. It sounds like something  got caught in the blades, but I already checked that and everything is clear. I also checked the belt. Not sure where it is coming from, but it stops when I push on the brake peddle (on the left side).

So when you start it up and let off the brake this happens or does it happen when mower starts moving?

No, it's not moving. Just pushing on the brake pedal will stop the noise. I have no idea what it could be.

Easiest way would be to have someone sit in the seat. Then see if you can pinpoint it when they let off the pedal. I would check down the brake linkage to the trans.
