Battery won't charge

I have a 2006 GT. The original battery lasted for 6 years. The next battery lasted for 3 years. Now when I buy a new battery, I have to start charging it after 1 week. Seems the tractor isn't charging the battery. I can't find anything in the manual about a charging system. I know it must have some type of charging system because of the first battery. I'm getting tired of leaving the tractor on the other side of my property and carrying the battery back and forth to charge it. Any info would be very much appreciated.

Is this the GT2254? Do you own a multimeter?

Check to make sure voltage regulator is making a good ground. If ground is good then check stator ac voltage while running, should be around 28Vac.

Ok.... I'm guessing that the ground is nothing more than the two bolts that hold it in place..... If so, then the ground is making contact..... When I checked the stator, I got nothing.... So now I take it that the regulator is bad.....

What is the engine & model #'s of the engine? From looking at wiring schematic there is a yellow connector on stator. On the two pins on the connector in VAC engine running full throttle you have 0 volts?

My apologies.... Dummy me checked the wrong end of the connection.... My multimeter is old school... Scale and needle... Hard to get an accurate reading with all the vibration, but it appears to be good... Needle was jumping around on me in the 25 VAC range...

Sorry for the delay, with it running what voltage dc at battery(full throttle) do you have?
You would have to have a DC shunt since this is a 16 amp charging system for testing voltage regulator output in amperage test.

Ok... Sorry for the delay on my end.... I found my wiring diagram..... The stator is putting out just fine..... The voltage at battery, with engine running at full throttle is 10 VDC....

Ensure the voltage regulator has a clean, tight ground. If that checks out, replace the v/r..

Yeah if your stator is good then you need a new voltage regulator. The battery needs a good charging at 10 volts.
