B&S 311707-0132-e1

I'm replacing the head gasket. I do not have a service manual. Can someone please tell me the torque sequence. I'm new at this, but I know there is a special way of doing it! Totally greatful for your help!

Glad to see you're at least asking for the info. Too many just go at it warping the head.

Well newbie here is a link to manual on my Google Drive. Button in up right hand for downloading to your computer. Let me know if you have any problems downloading it.

Also note that Briggs has increased the cylinder head torque to 250 in lbs using three stage step torque. This is an attempt to reduce the chance of the new gasket blowing again. Note in/lbs can be converted to ft/lbs by dividing by 12 as many in/lbs wrenches only go to 200 in/lbs.

Thank you so much! You were a life saver! This is my 2nd small engine project, but the other was a simple carburetor rebuild. The motor is on a craftsman riding mower, and I depend on this machine for a whole lot of other things as well. My late husband did all the mechanics in the house... now I am teaching myself. One thing he always said was follow the book and do it right!
    Have a great day!
