126602 0135 E1 won't start unless it's primed

This Ariens made Mack push mower was just acquired Friday in non running condition. I worked on it Saturday, and noticed the air intake was held on with 2 zip ties, and it wasn't even tight so the carb was sucking in dirt. Well, I removed, cleaned, and remounted the carb, took a trip to the hardware store, and mounted the intake properly. Then I primed it, and it started right up, and runs really good, but it won't start without priming it every time, even when the motor is warm...I mean you can literally kill the motor, and immediately try to restart, and it will not start until you press the primer bulb a few times. What could be causing this?

I solved the issue, it turned out my neighbor gave me some old ⛽ from last year. I drained the tank, and added fresh gas, and now it's good.
