Starter clutches breaking
Ok, heres a new one and search on the net, no one in the entire world has this problem. This is the 2nd starter clutch on this engine in less than a year and the imbedded nust in the alumimun body pulled out of the starter clutch, the flywheel came loose and chewed up the key. This was the brand new starter clutch. I was told when replacing the starter clutch to make it tight, around 60 ft lbs. does this sound right? The one that was on the engine when I bought the used mower also loosened up and chewed up the small shft that screws into the crckshaft but did not strip out the nut. I understand how the nut stripped out of the clutch by seeing the pic, there is no support under the nut when tightening. So what is supposed to be in there... Some kind of washer? Service manual does not show anything. Please help.
