Pull starter old Briggs

I  have a 1954 Jacobsen 524-100 seeder that is powered by a Briggs and Stratton 8 HP. This unit runs like a top but starting is a little problem using the old fashioned wrap around pull cord. Can I switch the engine to a more modern recoil starter?

P/N 798825 may fit, you will also need 794867 cup. This is the new dog style starter assembly. I would look for parts off a newer 8 hp engine that has been junked to minimize the expense in case it won't fit.
