17hp ohv no power running rough

Hi I have just joined this forum so greetings to all.  I have a briggs and stratton 17 hp OHV I/C model 313707 Type 0162-E5 Code 0202047E Family YBsxs.5012vp   274826 with intermediate emissions that has stopped running properly.  It bogs down and has no power after about a minute of running.  I have adjusted the vales to about .005 thou. each, changed the gas and filter installed new air cleaner and a carb clone.  I rebuilt the original NIIki card and tried that as well.  It still runs like crap.  Today I will buy a new plug.  Current is a championRC12YC that was a mix of tan and black when I removed it and has a .030 gap.  I am thinking maybe the flywheel key has shifted and the timing might be off but it starts fine and runs ok for 1/2 minute.  There sure are a lot of codes families and model numbers for this motor.  Any suggestions as what to do next would be appreciated.  Bestregards
Steve from Maine

My Craftsman had the same problem. How is your oil? Is it milky? Mine was. Took the heads off and had a blown head gasket. Just a thought! Good luck!

Yes the 310000 series is bad to blow the head gasket between the cylinder and push rod gallery. This is why they increase the head bolt torque specs to 250 in-lbs.

Also check the intake o-rings. I one 310000 series recently that was sneezing and it was an intake air leak.
