4.5 briggs & stratton

4.5 briggs & stratton

I have to hold throttle shaff in a certain position to get it to run and stay running. Even then it runs rough. There is a small hole between the two wings of the shaft, should there be a spring there? Parts diagram doesn't show one. If not what could be the problem?

    Welcome! It sounds like the fuel system needs a good cleaning. What is the moodel and type so we can get a better idea of what you are looking at?

    Its model# 10G902 0352.  The throttle shaft has the throttle linkage, but I think its supposed to have a spring also. Diagram I looked at didnt show a spring, but it doesnt show the throttle likage either. Maybe I should find a different diagram.

    They are listed under the air cleaner section.
     
    The governor spring 0.25 in. x 0.25 in. x 1.25 in. Light Blue in color. A fairly flimsy spring.
