The Last Cut before Winter - Cut Short or Leave Tall?

Should I cut my grass a little shorter before winter, or is it better to leave it taller?

You want to cut your grass shorter going into winter because it exposes less grass to the harsh winter weather.

You should be cutting your lawn a little shorter twords the end of fall. This will help prevent some issues like winter rot, and snow mold. Both will kill your grass. By cutting your lawn shorter and removing leaves/lawn clippings there is less of a chance to grow the fungus and mold which causes most of the problems found when spring thaw arrives.

Plus by bagging rather than mulching this time of year you will be ahead of the game with lett thatch to remove come spring.
