The crankcase vent line goes from the breather to  the air cleaner, it should not spew oil. Can you post a picture of what you are looking at?

I don't see anything in the IPL indicating this ported area.

It might an added port for a vacuum operated fuel pump and is not needed and needs plugging. Either way it should not be venting oil unless there is excessive blow by.

Note: This engine has a gravity fed carburetor and adding a fuel pump will cause flooding (over rich fuel mixture).

I spoke to soon before I seen the port fitting. it does have fuel pump type carburetor. The fitting is the vacuum port for the fuel pump impulse port. This would for a 1/4 ID fuel line going to the vacuum fuel pump.

Thanks for the help all .I bought a brass fitting drill hole in tappet cover and brazzed around it sealing it off and routed a vacuum line to and from seemed to work great.the new carb that is on there does not have a fuel pump.regular carb.

I am having a problem with the vent tube spewing oil into the carb. and stalling my mower, It refires after it runs thru but not so that I can cut my grass, What's the problem? New vent tube ? I blew  WD 40 thru it with a little air and it worked last time but doesn't seem to know.
