throttle lever at idle, linkage is hooked up .like 22 hp,B&S engine .model 446777 type 0244E-1. have to shut-off fuel , and let it run out-of-fuel to stop engine. i own 5 gt5000 mowers, 3 ZT's, retired acft mechanic, but think the govenor is out. lb

Then it sounds like you have two problems.

First the runaway can be the governor; although, it might be as simple the static governor adjustment is wrong.

The second with it not shutting down is the kill circuit not working, Can be a wiring problem or one of the coils not shutting down.

Thanks I tried to adj. The governor r but no help and I didn't want to shut the engine off going full throttle, preferred to let it run out of fuel as it sits aloft, trying to get the fuel out of the fuel bowls. Wonder if I have to split the cases to get to the govenor?
