antique tractor

Hello all; I have been working on this antique for some time now and I heard it run finally. But, the gas tank leaks like a siv.
Now that I know it runs I need to have some help with the brakes. I can't seem to find a manual on the tractor to help me and for some reason I can't locate it through sears.
The tag says: "Simpsons and Sears Limited". The model number: 917f25600. If there is anyway you can help me it will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Mrcalm

So what's wrong with the brakes? Is that model # correct?

Hello; the brakes do not work! Yes the model number is correct. That is one of the reasons I am having problems finding information. When I looked under the tractor there is a metal band around something at the rear of the trans axle. It looks like I am going to have to remove that axle assembly from the frame. So much difficulty in this project. I hope this helps but if you could help me find a manual that would be great. Thank you. Waiting patiently.

I am wondering if the 1971 is close to the same as a 1963. 1963 is what my brother say's it is. And yes there is a band that moves when I move the brake but I can't see much of anything under the trans area that is why I think it has to be removed from the frame. I can do it but it would be nice if I had a guide. I know it is an antique and I don't have the know how to find a manual so if you can help that would be great. Thank you
