Hydro transaxle output shaft - damaged?

I have a 1990s Craftsman LT1000 with a hydro transaxle (Peerless 6892P91 / Tecumseh 6731-P1 L) and it stopped moving forward or reverse on a hill.  Took the transmission apart and the only thing that seems badly worn are teeth on end of output shaft (coupler from hydro motor to drive gears).  But looking at other ones online, they look the same, and I'm wondering if it was manufactured this way and I was just low on fluid??  Or are all the parts online also worn out?  Can anyone confirm whether it is supposed to look this way?

Maybe  this will answer your question. From what I can see in the service manual images it is damaged.

Thanks! It sure seems to. Anyone know where I can get a replacement? Been searching all day and the one used one I found on eBay is just as stripped as mine. Thanks again.

Is there a part number referenced in the manual? Hoping Jacks has one 😊

Those hydro pump was never considered rebuild-able according the service manual and there is no breakdown IPL. So we had a bad one it was to be replaced. Also do you have the OEM alignment tool or made one before disassemble the transaxle assembly? It is a critical alignment.

I just ran into one of these transaxles earlier but didn't get a chance to make the tool as the customer decline to repair the unit.

What worst is parts are scarce for these units with original Tecumseh company being out of business since the early 2000's.
