Homelite edger runs strong then dies

Hello, I have a Homelite UT20004A edger.  It starts up well, runs strongly for a few minutes off-choke and then dies suddenly.  It can be started back up but then it repeats the same behavior.

This behavior persists after I took apart and cleaned the carburetor (it wasn't very dirty to begin with) and the air filter and the muffler.  It has new gas with a 50:1 gas/oil mixture.

Any ideas about what might be going on would be appreciated!  Thanks.

You actually got a UT200024A version of the UT20004A. Basically these use it and throw away when broken units.

It sound you got a stiffen metering diaphragm. Suggest cleaning carburetor in ultrasonic cleaner and installing a carburetor repair kit.

Just note that none of the parts from Homelite are available now. But you can order the repair kit (Zama RB-29 kit) for the C1U-H60 which appears to be the carburetor or Google PN 308054003 you can get a Chinese clone carburetor.

I bought the repair kit, swapped out both diaphragms and now it runs great.  The metering diaphragm was indeed stiff.  Great advice, thanks!
