New Ryobi / Honda question

Was able to fix the issue with the Pressure Washer I was given (5 year old Ryobi).
The original owners had issues with keeping the unit running since it was new.
A new carb and reattaching the air tube and the engine now runs like a champ.
Concern is with the washer/pump.
I have a 15 year old Troy-Bilt / Briggs that has operated amazingly for me.
When I pull the trigger on the TB, the pump engages and pulls the engine down a bit, then levels out.
With the Ryobi, when you pull the handle, the machine seems to pull down much further than the Briggs.
Almost sounds like it is going to choke out, but doesn't.
It will run and clean, but it feels/sounds like much reduced power.
The Briggs is a 2400# PSI and is 6.5 HP.
The Honda is 3100# and 5.5 HP.
Is this just the difference in Briggs and Honda?
Does the difference in the pump pressures have an affect?
Or is there something I need to check regarding the performance of the Ryobi?
Never owned a Honda anything before.

It obvious the Honda unit is under powered as 3100 psi is going load it a lot more when working at full pressure. It would even load down the Briggs more than the 2400 PSI pump. This sorta like you carrying 100 lbs for 100ft then a small person (kid) carrying 125 lbs the same distance. The smaller person is going have to work a lot harder.

AVB - Your comments sure make sense.
But, this is the way the washer was manufactured - 5.5 HP Honda engine and 3100 PSI pump.
I have no experience with Honda engines, so didn't know if this was normal for Hondas or if it is truly underpowered.
I guess I wonder why the smaller engine would be paired with the higher pressure pump.
If it cleans, I guess it is OK?

My guess is the nozzle is partially plugged, it may be damaged from abuse. Or somebody has monkeyed with the unloader in an attempt to gain more power. You need a pressure guage to check the output.

Roy - Quick question for you. I found the unloader.
It is completely covered with a soft plastic cap. Sort of like the caps manufacturers use to protect threads on things during shipment. Since I did not buy this new and the original owners had issues with it since it was new, is it possible the only problem is this needs to be removed? Or does it not affect anything?
Just want to try to verify before I remove the unloader and clean and/or replace it.

Lubricated and it and reinstalled.
Engine still seems to bog more than it should when trigger is pulled.
But, it also continues to clean.
Just doesn't sound like the engine "planes out" properly when trigger is pulled.

back off the unloader and see if that helps. I know a 13 hp Honda with a 4000 psi / 4 gpm pump is overloaded if the pump is working at the full designed pump pressure. I had change tips to 4000 psi / 4.5 gpm ones to lower the max working pressure as the 4000 psi make things too much the small 13 hp engine but I can go to full working pressure when using a 21 hp Honda. The current max pressure is 3200 psi @ 4.5 gpm and the 13 hp handles that fine.

Thanks AVB. Never dealt with an unloader before.
I'll try when I get a chance.
Supposed to have storms in Houston for the next few days.
Will see when I get a chance to play with it further.

Still bogging too much. I don't notice a discernible difference in performance by making adjustments to the unloader.
After searching the internet, appears these are the next 2 steps for me.
First up will be the spark plug. Going to do that today.
If that doesn't resolve, will replace the unloader.
From what I read, even if the unloader appears to be in good working condition when removed, it can still be the cause of bogging.
Will advise.

Update - Finally.
Replaced the unloader valve. FYI - Ryobi doesn't show a separate unloader for the RY80940. When I called them, they said it was not a separate part and I needed to buy the entire housing. I bought the unloader for their RY80930 and it fit perfectly.
After replacing the unloader, the engine would hardly stay running.
Finally figured out how to adjust the RPMs. Took a couple of tries to get it dialed in.
Now it runs like brand new.
Never experienced the Idle Down feature on this machine.
It is a pretty nice deal. Engine really idles down a lot when the trigger is released.
