Poulan Chainsaw P3314 leaker

This saw is leaking bar oil from a small tube behind the bar plate.  This tube looks to be plastic with a copper center. The tube is flush to the housing and about 1/8" diameter. Is there something missing there that has fallen/broken off? thank you, gregjo1948

A few things:
- Check out my post for the same problem;
- Update/edit your post with a clear and in-focus image or two of the problematic area;
- Download the P3314 exploded parts diagram.

UV dye will help you identify the problematic component. Then it's a matter of determining if the leak comes from a specific part, or the female fittings on the parts on either side of it.

I can see where the oil is coming from. As I posted, it's coming out of the tube/line/hose that lubes the chain. Doesn't matter if the saw isn't running. I' don't know what prevents oil in the reservoir from running out the tube/line/ hose.

Then the rubber pickup tube and the oil pump assembly would need changing. Actually either the rubber pickup not fitting tightly or the oil pump piston and cylinder are worn to a point where oil leaks pass to tight fit.

OIL PUMP ASSEMBLY. The silver item is pump cylinder and the item with the gear is the pump piston.

OIL PICKUP TUBE Note the spring end may not come with the new pickup tube and just need to be transferred.

Any other leaks would mean a new crankcase,

It appears the leak is coming out the vent tube. Why would the vent  tube vent in the oil reservoir? Looks like when the reservoir is full, the oil can run out the vent tube and come out behind the bar plate.

It's likely you mistake the oil pickup tube as a vent tube.

Grab a flashlight and take a peeky-peek into the oil reservoir of that saw--sans oil, of course. Notice that lone tube-like doodad within that looks markedly similar to the image above labeled "Oil Pickup Tube"..? I believe your model saw vents via the reservoir cap, the o-ring on which is itself a notorious culprit as a source of oil seepage.

I make this presumption based on the P3314 exploded parts diagram, which I suspect based on your post you have yet to download and study.

The vent tube comes  out under the bar plate and the other end is inside the oil tank. The vent tube is number 30 on the diagram. I have the oil drained from the tank. The oil pickup with the spring is sorta in a different corner of the tank. I have looked at the parts diagram and it shows the vent tube being a "long"  thin straw and it runs into the oil tank. I popped the end of the tube to the oil cap hole and put a light air pressure on it to verify where it exited and it clearly comes out behind the bar plate. Wiping and blowing all oil off the saw without the bar, chain, bar plate, cover, and etc., with the saw setting on the bench, oil drips from the vent tube.
I appreciate the help and I had studied the parts diagram before I started posting about the leak.

Thanks for pointing out where the part is located on the IPL. That tube should have a valve or grub screw in it but I haven't seen a P3314 in a few years.

I can't see anything attaching to the tube in the diagram. It just seems ridiculous to have it running a vent into the oil reservoir. I can't tell if there is a stem to push the tube onto within the tank. If there is, maybe then it pulls venting air from somewhere outside of the tank. This saw is a customer's but, I have one of my own that also leaks and my neighbor  has a Poulan leaker.

I can't see some additions to the image tube. It just seems ridiculous to have it running out into an oil tank. I can't tell if a stem pushes the tube onto the tank. If there is, maybe then it pulls venting air from somewhere outside the tank. Any customer who sees it but, I have leaked more information from one of my own and my neighbor has a Poulan ex-employee.

What you wrote doesn't make any sense to me.
