Carburettor pilot jet

I have a carb on a Suzuki atv. I only know what YouTube has taught me about carbs , so be patient 😀

The pilot jet head broke off, I removed the jet as best I could, including usIng a small drill bit to help get it out

I have two questions, firstly could I have damaged anything at the bottom of the jet housing, I definitely didn’t touch the sides where the thread is?

Secondly when I blow air or carb cleaner through the pilot jet , it comes out of a release hole as per the photo. Is this correct, I don’t understand why that would be there as how does the gas get through to the chamber if there is a much bigger exit hole beforehand?

I only been working on ATV a few years so it is important that I know the model and year to look up this carburetor.

But does sounds like it is an air bleed jet but need to know which jet you removed via drilling.

Thanks for the reply. It’s a Suzuki Vinson 500. 2003
It was the pilot jet I removed. The top broke off and so to get the rest out I needed to drill into it

I think you be fine if you didn't go pass the tip of the jet.

Just case you did you might still be fine but you do need a carburetor be aware there two versions of this 4WD Suzuki.

LT-A500F and a LT-F500F
Only three of four carburetors that were used on these is available. 2 different one on each model listed.

The parts lookups is available at Partzilla.com

Also next time you go to remove these types jets you need to use a straight side hollow screwdriver blade.

Thanks for that
So also for the air bleed hole. Is that supposed to be open or is there supposed to be some form of stopper? Otherwise doesn’t the gas just come out there instead of getting through to the chamber?
