Toro proline 30317

I got a 36in proline for free. Safety everything has been bypassed and it's burning wire and toggle switches. The mower puts out 24v straight to a toggle switch to turn on the pto clutch. I have a 24v to 12v reducer but it needs both +/- to enter it and out to work properly.

I cant seem to find a negative from the rectifier to hook up to the +/- leads.

Anybody have or has experience with this?

I want to wire it all back to normal like it was buy the previous wiring hack job is so intense I wouldnt know where to begine if I got a new delay module.

Where the heeck are you getting 24 volts from?

Current created by the mower itself to run. Current is then run to a AC to DC rectifier for the delay module, safety switch, pto and then the blade clutch. The delay module transfers that current into 12v just like a step down buck converter.

What you are calling a rectifier is actually a rectifier and voltage regulator on that Kohler CV15 if the mower still has the original engine. The voltage regulator case is the ground (negative) and must be grounded to the engine's crankcase.

But with 24V output the regulator is shorted out and needs replacing. And the delay module does NOT act as a step down buck regulator. All the delay module does is to control the electric PTO clutch. You're lucky if the delay hasn't failed already as the transistor can short when that 24 vdc being applied to it as it is spec'd for 12-16VDC.

Ok all that makes more sense. I am not a electrical engineer by no means but I was just going by what I do know. I appreciate the info sir.

Put a brand new regulator on the mower and it still reads 24v???

This is previouse owners wiring job not mine....

Black wire from regulator is spliced to pink wire which is going straight to on/off switch for pto(green wire)
