Honda GX 25

Hi I have got one of these engines which will tick over no problem when I rev it up It dies after 30 seconds I bought a replacement carb and fitted it but it does exactly the same.Is there any chance it could be the spark plug I don't have a replacement to try and its the weekend?

Spark plugs are easier and cheaper to change than carburetors, do the simple stuff first. When the engine quits immediately check for spark, if no go then the coil is failing from heat.

Yes those CMR plugs are known to fail. Anywhere from completely dead to intermittent firing. I have had them to cause engine knocking and one that caused a two cycle to diesel.

The GX25 is much similar to the GX35 and it should have a compression of around 140 psi and valves due need adjusting regularly.

Hi,still having trouble with this new plug and new carb it will tick over no bother but when I rev it up it dies after 10 seconds any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like it is stlll starving for fuel. Replace the in tank filter, it may be clogged.

Hi,still having bother with this engine.I have changed the carb for a new one,new spark plug changed filter in petrol tank.It starts very easily and will tick over till I stop it when I rev it up it runs for 30 seconds and cuts out.Any advice what to try now?
