Hello everyone ;] Speeco 22 ton splitter B&S 675 to Honda GCV 190 engine swap?
New to the forum ;]
I've got a Speeco 22 Ton splitter with Briggs 675 190cc engine that smells like it's burning oil, ick. I can only split with the exhaust pointing downwind. It's the same after a fresh oil change, it's burning a little oil.
So, I'd like to replace it with a Honda engine, this one.
Looking for assurance from someone who's done this Briggs to Honda swap that it is a direct crossover without surprises.
I'm not looking to save money on this swap, just looking to put a better engine on this splitter. The quality of the Briggs motor has not been impressive so far. Last time I went to use it, the China fuel on/off started leaking like a sieve all over the ground - ick - after filing the tank, had to scramble to get a pan under it, and then rob the shutoff from my old Ariens riding mower.
While I was switching out the shutoff, the the fuel filter barb cracked from the filter body... I don't generally try to find junk parts to put in the fuel lines of small engines. I only buy brand name parts, so I can sleep better at night ;]
If there's an engine that's better and more expensive than the Honda I linked to, please post the model number.
I'd like to do this swap before too long, got a HUGE Fir snag in a high foot traffic area we're going to cut down, and I'd like to split the wood without gagging on the burning oil smell.
