3Quart Briggs and Stratton Fuel tank issue

Hi all,

I am in the process of rebuilding an old 5hp briggs on a rototiller, the tank was full of varnish and so I cleaned it out, unfortunately along came with it the built in"bowl" for the carb. I can't seem to find the part (494592) online, and was wondering if anyone has actually done a repair to the tank to re-affix a home made one.
Thanks!

The reason you can't find the 494592 anywhere is that they have been NLA for at least two years. Even the last 3 quart tank that I have was purchased April 2019 was the last one that I got from Briggs before they discontinued the tanks. I can't openly sell it as it is reversed for my log splitter customers.

Ah that's what I had a feeling of. Damn! They had a good run though.

The engine I had was a 69, so to provide genuine parts for 40+ years is a testament to their ruggedness!

On another note, do you have any experience soldering these little guys?

Plan may be to open it and do some surgery to get a bowl soldered in then seal it all up again, seeing as I would like to use this engine.
