Suddenly lost spark on Briggs YBSXS.2051HF engine.

I have a pressure washer with Briggs YBSXS.2051HF engine.  It ran great when I used it a couple months ago.  It's been sitting in my climate controlled shop since then.  Went to use it yesterday and it would not fire.  Pulled the spark plug, grounded it, and there is no evidence of spark when I pull the starter.   Before I tear into it, I'm wondering if anyone else has had this happen, and what is the most likely cause of suddenly losing spark like this?   Thanks!

We need the model and type number stamped into the valve cover, the emission info is useless for our purposes. Does it have a low oil shutdown?

Sorry.  Here are the numbers stamped in the valve cover:
030618  FD
120412   0143   E1

There is no low oil shutdown that I am aware of.  It has the right level of engine oil.

Thanks.

Considering the age of the engine (2003) (18 yrs) it might be just a normal age related failure.

Disconnect the black wire at the throttle control then check for spark. If still no spark it's the armature (coil). If it now works the switch is at fault.
