John Deere Snow Blower - no spark issues
John Deere Snow Blower - no spark issues
John Deere Snow Blower
Tecumseh H70-130159B engine
The snow blower wouldn't start and there is no spark. I pulled the flywheel and then measure the resistance from the kill switch to ground - basically a short. I tool the wire off and measured from the post to ground - straight short again. Now I'm thinking that the points and condenser are the issue. I don't want to go any further until I hear from all of you experts.
Also, if I have to change out the coil and other things, what is the procedure to put the new coil in (if I have to) so that it is properly adjusted. I've never had to work on replacing a coil when it is 'inside' the flywheel.
Forgot to add that if I need a coil, there is no part number listed in the following link

Last night I disconnected the condenser from ground, and did measurements from spark plug cap to ground, post to ground, spark plug cap to ground. All read open. I was expecting 2k - 18k resistance according to a video I watched regarding a similar Tecumseh snow blower motor. Not sure if I was doing that correctly. I did a voltage check on the condenser and it was reading a very small voltage and then slowly dropped. Advice appreciated on this one. If the coil is bad, it doesn't look like an easy job replacing it and getting everything set back up.
