Setting new AR Gymatic unloader valve

Good morning. Had to replace a pump on pressure washer. engine is Honda GX340. old pump was an AR 4G 3200psi. They don't make a 3200psi anymore so i went with a AR 4G 3700psi. Couple of questions please. The Gymatic unloader has to be set. My understanding is that you set it up so when the unloader is set to max (so that it is the highest that it will go without further adjustment) you can always turn it down when needed. My question is with a pump that on paper can do 4G 3700psi will that engine handle that without undo stress on it? Or do I set it at max of 3200psi? Somewhere in between? Just as an example if I settle on 3400psi and continue to use the 4.5 tips. I installed pressure gauge at outlet on pump before hose. Is this correct method to adjust?

1. bring locking nut up all the way to top of bolt
2. tighten unloader valve all of the down with knob
3. start pump and open trigger.
4. adjust bolt down until you reach the desired pressure (which would always be max) which in this case would be 3400psi.
5. release trigger and check for spike in pressure.
6. pressure spike should be no more than 400psi max

If it is more than 400psi does that mean that I need to lower max with trigger pulled to something less than 3400psi? Once I get it set to be no more than 400psi and put everything back together does that 400psi spike remain constant no matter if i turn the pressure down with the adjustment knob?

Step 1: Get the pressure washer ready.
It’s critical to follow the required safety measures before trying any adjustments:

b. Lower the pressure: Release any accumulated pressure in the system by pulling back on the spray gun’s trigger. The safety and simplicity of adjustment depend on this action.

Step 2: Locate the Unloader Valve
The unloader valve’s precise placement can be determined by consulting the user handbook for your pressure washer. It is usually located next to the pump outlet and attached to the pressure hose. The unloader valve may contain an adjustment knob or screw for pressure regulation.

Step 3: Access the Adjustment Knob or Screw
Others could require removing a protective lid to access the adjustment screw. Some pressure washers have an exterior adjustment knob. If a cap covers the adjustment screw, carefully remove it using the proper tool.

Step 4: Adjust the Pressure
To adjust the pressure, perform the following procedures with a flat-head screwdriver or the device suggested in your pressure washer’s manual:

a. Clockwise: Rotate the adjustment screw or knob in a clockwise direction to increase pressure. To prevent overtightening, be sure to spin it slowly.

Step 7: Lock the Setting
To stop unwanted changes, you must secure the adjustment once you’ve reached the desired pressure level:

b. Internal Adjustment Screw: If you change the pressure using an internal screw, you might need a thread-locking adhesive to keep the adjustment in place. By doing this, you can stop vibrations from the operation from causing the screw to loosen.

Step 8: Reassemble (If Applicable)
After making the adjustment and locking the setting, if you had to remove a protective cap to get to the adjustment screw, firmly reattach it.

Restart the pressure washer and use the spray cannon to ensure the pressure stays where you want it.
