Troy Bilt Horse XP riding mower deck engagement cable issue

I'm working a a Troy Bilt Horse XP 13YX79KT011 and need a new deck engagement cable. I got one that the owners manual said was correct for the mower (946-05124A) and compared it to the old one I had removed it was 19 or so inches shorter. Not sure how to figure out what part number I need to get one of the correct length. I'm attaching a picture of the cables. Any help would be appreciated - thanks.

I'm not really that good with mowers, but is it possible that this is a "high tension" and cable should be stretched to fit or can it be stretched? If that sounds like a dumb question just ignore it haha. 
 
Outside of that you might check a few similar mowers for that part, like models the same series, but look for longer cables. Have you tried contacting the manufacturer?
