Homelite Pressure Washer Dies

I have a Homelite UT80522G pressure washer that is about 8ish years old. The reality is that it has only been used about a dozen or so times in that span. I always shut off the fuel and let it starve itself and die when done using it so the carb doesn't gum up. Anyway, let my friend borrow it and when I got it back, I tried to use it and fuel was pouring out of the exhaust and it would die. I have never had much luck with rebuilding carbs so I just ordered a new one.

Today I replaced the card and it fired up first pull. Unfortunately, that where the joy ended. It runs for about 10 seconds then dies with white smoke coming out of the exhaust. Oil and gas are good so I'm not really sure where to go from here. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Some of the Chinese knock off carbs will have issues..

At the very least, un-bolt the carb and slide it back from the block/intake manifold.
Leave the fuel line hooked up and turned on. Watch for fuel leaking out of the carberator orifice.

No fuel should leak out. Give it at least a day to watch for fuel.

What brand/HP engine do you have?

There is nothing on the engine or manual stating the brand/HP of the engine. The only thing it states is it's 179cc. I did find a stamp on the block that shows R180-3III. A google search shows it's a Rato 6HP engine, if that's correct.

I pulled the carb back and there is no fuel leaking out between the carb and block. I will leave it that way overnight and see what happens. I noticed a small oil spot on the ground beneath the exhaust. It smells like fuel so maybe it running too rich? I did notice that this carb has a brass adjustment screw on it that the OE carb doesn't. It's on the back of the carb nearest the block. Any idea what this does? I would assume this regulates the fuel flow? I will see if I can get a pic posted.
