reassembling Tecumseh HM100 159287P - seeking torque spec for bolts closing crankcase

I am reassembling the engine.  Ordered parts and using Technician Manual.  Charts charts and tables not clearly identifying case cover nor naming bolts with torque spec.

Tried sending message to website "contact" and directed to join Forum.

Have diagram if more clarification needed.

p. 91 of the Tecumseh Technician's Handbook says

HM Cyl. Cover or Flange (Powerlok) bolts take a torque of 125 in. lbs (10.5 ft. lbs, 14 Nm)

Conrad,

Thanks for your attention ... and you've precisely revealed my conundrum.

I attached diagrams/charts for clarification.  Your reference (I believe) is for what I call the cylinder head to which I think I have torque and tightening sequence (see Head Bolt Torque Sequence diagram).

I am trying to tighten the bolts numbered 86 and 87 on the exploded view diagram.  These are smaller bolts which would probably snap under the same torque as the head bolts.

I am hoping (and seek confirmation) that the unmarked HM/HMSK70-100 column of the Torque Specifications chart (page 5) Rocker Box Cover 15-20 inchlbs. is the proper torque value for the cover squeezing the sealing gasket.

The parts list I had accompanying the exploded parts diagram did not name the parts numbered 69 and 70 so I could be certain the torque values are correct.

Do you have information providing confirmation of my presumptions?

Again ...Thanks
Juhan
ps ... I was unable to find how to post my scanned images.  I will attempt to add them the my forum page under the Tecumseh engines heading.  any advice on how to add scans.  Maybe you could send my an email to  to exchange scan info.

No, my reference is not to the cylinder head bolts, which are torqued to 200 in. lbs., but to the cylinder cover bolts. What I would call the crankcase cover, Tecumseh calls the cylinder cover. You can see that in their diagrams, so I'm pretty certain the torque specification you're looking for is the one I provided (125 in. lbs). I don't see a bolt sequence for the cylinder cover, so I assume it doesn't much matter.

As for how to add scans or images to the posts, I have done it by inserting a URL which links to my image file on Google Drive. You could probably use whichever cloud-based file system you prefer.

I was finally able to post the attachments to my original posting under "Tecumseh."

Look on p. 5 of your attachment at "mounting flange or cylinder cover".
