Koehler 7000 series I'm at a loss

Hello, new to the forum so I apologize if I missed a similar situation.
I have a lawn tractor with a koehler 7000 series 26 hp motor.  I have gone through the entire fuel system with new parts from fuel line to filter to pump to carb.  I am fairly certain that the only thing wrong with the old carb was the solonoid, but I can't find a replacement with just the one wire, I take that back, I did find one on amazon, but it was the wrong size thread to fit and the needle was a different size as well.  So i bought an entire carb, has the one wire solonoid but the pit is a different size so no choice but to use the whole carb.   It won't start with the needle in place, doesn't seem to open, I take the needle out and it will start and run (though not as smooth as pre-failure) but won't shut off....
 
Local shop has a 4 week wait before they even look at anything and my weeds are getting out of hand!  PLEASE HELP!!!

That needle (solenoid), needs 12 volts to OPEN and ALLOW FUEL TO FLOW.
 
It's supposed to help with stopping back firing when shutting down.
I've found just down shut down immediately from WOT , let it idle a couple of seconds
and it won't back fire.
 
With that said, I'd use the original carb, original solenoid BUT CUT the needle off-So
it does not affect fuel flow.  With that mod, you won't need 12 volts, don't have to worry 
about it sticking closed, etc....
 
Don't "pull" the needle (it may leak), but with the needle extended cut it as short as possible
(Dremel, cut off wheel, etc).

I saw your thread where you did this, but when I eliminate the needle (for the sake of this conversation same as clipping) then it won't shut down at all... not if I turn the key off, not if get off the seat, not if I idle it down or up or choke or not, not if I disconnect the battery... I end up having to force the throttle (on the carb itself) past it's run point to flood the engine out for it to die.

Your second post raises MANY, OTHER issues that should have been posted.
Are there other issues or their about covered now?
 
The ignition switch, when turned off SHOULD ground out the coils killing spark / ignition.
 Getting off the seat with blades engaged, SHOULD also kill the ignition.
 
It sounds like the wire to the coils, to kill spark (WHEN GROUNDED), is not working/connected...
 
I'd probably be looking at the ignition switch for failure, IMO...
 
Your currently just using the fuel solenoid to starve the engine of fuel to turn it off.
If you have an on/off valve for the tank, that would work too but take longer to
run out of fuel.
