Briggs & Stratton Engine 725 Exi

Hi. I just bought a new Briggs & Stratton Engine 725 Exi (see the link below for the closest I could find to it on line). The manual is just gibberish to me. (And it seems to be the manual for more than one unit.) Near as I can tell: there is no off/kill switch, and the choke is automatic. But what I can't figure here is how to throttle this thing up. There appears to be a throttle control under the gas tank. Does anyone else have a engine like this and can tell me if that really is the throttle (or give me any more tips)? Thanks.

Here is a pic (the closest I could find to one on line): [sorry folks, it is not posting my link]

I just condemned one yesterday from a pressure washer, (scored cylinder, blown head gasket).

That engine has a pre-set throttle RPM, usually 3,600 RPM's..

That set RPM can be adjusted, (it is set, your not adjusting up and down by a lever) for higher or lower
RPM's.

What is it powering? A mower, pressure washer, ??

Thanks for replying.

Looking at it, it looks to me like there is a set up where you could attach a cable and there is a spring. It reminds me of the set up on a pushmower I have.

A log splitter. I brought in the old motor to a shop.....they said it was a goner....and this is the closest thing to it they could find.

The spring, kinda heavy, is part of the engine brake/kill switch inherent in the design.

The lever you would pull brake, for a walk behind mower, pulls the assembly so the "brake"
and kill wire are NOT killing the engine.

Both can be by-passed and use a separate kill wire, to the coil "kill tab" to ground
and short the ignition to turn off.

As for adjusting the throttle RPMs, there is no provision in that engine to do so..

I would think you'd want it running at full RPMs when your operating it.

Lastly, the "no oil change, just add oil", DON'T DO IT...  Oil changes as usual
if you want it to last..

Yes sir, I believe that is correct. Part #922 looks a lot like the spring on mine. (A fairly stiff spring.)

So what I guess I need to do is get a some kind of control wire for it.
