Walbro carb bowl gasket

My calipers show an outside diameter(OD) of carb bowl as 52mm, 2.04724inches (or 2 3/64in).  A 2in or
slightly bigger diameter bowl gasket is needed here. The Briggs gasket P/N 281165 is clearly too small, although that's what is listed in manual .  Briggs engine number on mower is 2149070272 E1.   Briggs gasket-Float Bowl, 281165S, this is too small and won't seal.

Do you know where I could get a float bowl gasket that would be in dimension listed above (2 1/16in or slightly bigger)?

This is a Sears riding mower with Briggs motor, it has a model
number of 247.27022.  Date 1998.  Serial number 1 E174I10097.

Just check the 281165S here and it is the correct bowl gasket for the Walbro LMT. Does requires a slight stretch to fit the carb but once mounted should have an OD of 51.3mm.

I will keep checking OD for a good fit in the 51mm-52mm range.  Yes, I can stretch the gasket out to make the fit, but after I install and tighten the fuel bowl to carb housing, it seems to seal but a few days later it starts to leak again.

I may have to replace the fuel bowl itself and see if that is going to help with sealing this  gasket.  It's a good Briggs engine that's lasted quite a few years so far.  Other than this issue, I'm not having any other problems.

A couple possibles to check.
  • Float bowl retaining screw area may bent inwards and not applying pressure
  • or the float needle valve is seeping allowing a slow over fill of the carburetor. If this is the case it can be the float, needle valve, or seat that is bad. It only takes a hairline place for it to leak.
If you have pressure tester you can invert the carburetor and apply 5 psi to the inlet tube and it should hold this pressure over time. Most of these carburetors have a pop off pressure of 7-10 psi; otherwords, the needle valve unseats once above this pressure but should re-seat once below the pop off pressure.

Good idea, I'm going to order a whole set  from Briggs so I can cover all the bases.
They are selling together (float bowl washer, float bowl, screw and o-ring gasket).

Hopefully I won't need to replace carb after this.

Received Briggs p/n 495933 with new float bowl, o-ring, etc.  Looks like all the new parts finally stopped the gas leak,  even after I added a 12vdc electric fuel pump to keep a little more fuel pressure inside line going into carb.  I've had some fuel starving issues before.  Now no leaks and runs very well with the aftermarket fuel pump.
