Homelite HLT 25CNC Type 2

First I want to say how great it is to have so much fantastic information to help me with my lawn-mowing projects. I found a Victa 4 stroke tossed out for clean up and fixed it up using information from this site. It now works like a charm.

I currently have a 2 stroke Homelite trimmer/weed eater with the pull starter system hard to pull - (rope, etc resisting and pulling back), it's really hard to pull.  On this model the pull starter is attached to the engine inside the plastic housing. I took out the engine and checked the rope and flywheel and everything moves ok. The problem I'm having is getting the engine to seat correctly inside the housing so that I can put the screws back in. I can't seem to line everything up. I've looked at so many youtube video's showing pull rope repairs, but they all have different models to mine and even the Homelite's  don't seem to have the problem that I do, in getting the engine to seat correctly back into the housing.

There must be someway of fixing this. Can anyone help with this I would be much obliged.

Hi Mike,

thanks for replying.

I found out that attached to the plastic pull cord housing is an alignment hole. You have to turn this, until it lines up with a small hole in the engine housing, this lines up the four screws to attach the engine and housing. The difficulty is that there is tension because of the spring so it's very tricky. It was a too person job for me. But this information might help someone else with the same problem.
