Carb Adjustment Tool for Echo Power Blower PB-250
Carb Adjustment Tool for Echo Power Blower PB-250
I have an Echo PB-250 power blower that is about 5 years old. It has always been difficult to start, it is an early unit it and has a Walbro WTA-33 carb.
The rebuild kit for the Walbro was similar to other carb rebuilds I have done. The only issue upon completion was adjusting the carburetor. The adjustment screws are a small D adjustment screw, that has a 3mm diameter. I called Echo to find out where I could purchase the correct adjustment tool. They told me they cannot sell them to me because the EPA says its illegal for them to do so.
There are several sellers of these tools on EBay, many of which I ordered, all made in China, and subsequently returned them all because the metal they were made of was very soft. They rounded out on the idle adjustment screw, not letting me make the adjustment. I resorted to taking the screws out and cut a slot into the head of the screw with a Dremel tool using a cutting wheel. I was not satisfied with the result and slightly damaged the threads on the mixture screw in the process. Can only turn high speed mixture screen in a few turns, unfortunately just where the blower still runs a bit too rich.
My next step is to get a new WTA-33 carb. This would still require adjusting the mixture screws.
One of the preeminent members of the forum AVB posted a photo attached here from one of his replies to another posting.
Can anyone suggest where to get the tool in this photo, it appears to be of significantly better construction than any I have run across on EBay.
Thank you.
