Snapper Mower with Kawasaki Engine FJ180V

Hello,

First time on the forum.  Thanks to anyone that can help me.  I have a Snapper mower with a Kawasaki FJ180V engine.  I'm pretty sure I have damaged the flywheel key because my rear wheel caught the edge of my water meter cover, it flipped up and a corner of it got jammed in my mower blade, shutting down the mower.  After removing the meter cover from the blade, the mower would not start.  I have no idea how to access the flywheel and need step by step instructions, please.  Thank you again to anyone that can help me.  I'm new to DIY with small engines, but I'm a fast learner.

Thanks to all for your consideration.  However, I found a service manual with illustrations.  I'm sure I can follow the instructions and get it done.

No problem I was out of it yesterday with in shop repairs myself. Just remember to properly the flywheel retainer bolt or nut to specs provided in the SM. Please don't guess at this spec as either if it is too loose will shear the key again or if over tighten damage the flywheel. If you don't have a torque wrench Harbor Freight has them at very reasonable prices.

Thanks AVB.  I have a torque wrench, but what I don't have as requested in the SM is the Special Tool -  Bracket holder (Part No. 57001-1536).  It's quite expensive (over $100)  Any suggestions on an alternate tool?  Thank you.

Since you mower has a bar blade just use a 2x4 or 4x4 to block the blade from turning. First make the blade is properly torqued and then torque the flywheel or at least that is how I do most of the walk behinds that come into my shop.
