Honda Pressure washer backfire

Hi folks

Last year I bought a Honda pressure washer from Northern Tool. It has a Honda GX 160 engine with a Comet pump. 3000 psi.

It starts and runs great everytime...but while using it and you let off the pressure, the engine backfires. I drain the gas when not using, empty the carb and has a new spark plug. Any suggestions?

Thanks

it might be that the carburetor is running to rich. or it could be a bent valve. that's what I would guess.

I’m having the same issue with my brand new Honda powered washer. It backfires when I let off the spray gun. It’s worth adding the manual states the engine takes 0.6L and that’s exactly the amount they supply. However, the machine pours out oil when I check the dipstick on a level surface. I don’t think excess oil would cause a backfire but I wanted to mention that. I’ve let mine drain out the excess oil and that seems to have reduced the number of backfires. I’m still not sure though. Thoughts?
