Misfiring Briggs and Stratton 5.5hp rototiller

Hi all,
New here.
I gave a rototiller that is misfiring.
I have checked the timing, got new spark plug and gapped it, also gapped magneto. I gave a new magneto arriving tomorrow. If it is not that what other thing could it be? Suggestions? Thanks.

Welcome aboard. Try an inline spark tester, it will show an ignition misfire and is a lot cheaper thaan a new magneto. Also check valve clearances.

Put new spark plug(ngk) and magneto. It has a really good blue spark.
Same thing. It also has fumes of unburned fuel coming out of the exhaust.
I a mb wondering it's running rich. How do I tell if it is and how can I adjust the carb? I'll try tomorrow taking of the air filter and seeing if it runs better to diagnose if it's running rich.
I have not checked valves yet.

I gapped the valves. New carb, really good spark. ANY other ideas?

Can you post the numbers off the engine? I wonder if the valves are not seating, maybe the guides are worn. Is the new carb OEM or aftermarket?

The carb is aftermarket. Would that make it not work very well?
The model is: 126302
I have the stuff to lap the valves. Should I do it??

If you want to go to that much work you could pull the head and check the valves and guides for wear. A leakdown test would be quicker if you have access to the tool and an air compressor. Is it just an annoying miss or is performance suffering?

I have an air compressor. What tool do I need?

Performance is suffering real bad. IT has no power.
