Ryobi 3100 Idle down cable dissasembly

Question: I broke the stem which holds the soap siphon fitting on my 3100, I think I can weld or repair the threaded stem, but I can't figure out how to remove the cable, don't want to melt any plastic internal fittings?..not sure what is inside looks plastic from where the fitting was. How can I get the cable out? I've pulling the pin but it won't come out..
