Husqvarna 240 Ignition Problem - no spark

My Husqvarna 240 Chainsaw has no spark.  The ignition system is about as simple as it gets.  A coil with embeded electronics is mounted along side the flywheel which has permanent magnets.  If you replace the coil assembly you have basically replaced the entire ignition system.  I installed a new coil purchased from Jacks.  Still no spark.  I called Jacks and they immediately shipped me a new coil assembly no questions asked.  The second new coil worked for one cutting session and now we are back to no spark.  I find it hard to accept that two new coils are defective.  I also installed a new spark plug.  Anybody have similar experience or any ideas?

Did you disconnect the switch and try it? If it now works the switch is faulty.

Hey Roy,  Thanks but yes I did disconnect the kill switch completely but still no spark.  I also have tried adjusting the gap between the coil and the flywheel.  The mounting holes allow for small adjustments.  I could not find a spec for the gap but have tried almost touching to as wide a gap as possible and a few steps in between but same result.

Frustrating as it has been a good saw for the 10 years I've had it.  Not sure what else to do.

Air gap is .010-.012 inch or basic business card thickness. Here I use my repair tag stock.

i have the 240 husqvarna. worked fine the first season. went to use second season no spark. replaced 2 coils, flywheel, spark plug. still no spark. i accidentally found while coil was off engine laying on table. i was looking at the spark plug boot. the coil wire plug contact inside the boot was twice the diameter of the plug tip. with the boot so tight it kept the plug from making contact with the plug. to get a spark i had to reduce the coil wire inside the coil wire boot. then really push down hard on the boot. i then grounded the plug to test and finally got spark. i installed the plug. tightly pressed on the coil wire boot. fueled the saw and it started in 3 pulls. i restarted half a dozen times. each time started on first pull. let it sit overnight. restarted the next day. it ran for about 10 seconds then died. tried multiple times and it did the same thing. then started leaking fuel from somewhere and dripping on the ground. checked fuel cap. nothing. now i have another problem. i initially even had a 40 year tech try to troubleshoot spark. cost me 50 bucks with a i don't have a clue come and pick it up. so i did finally get a spark and it ran. and now another shot in the foot with a won't keep running with a fuel leak. checked hoses, etc. no problem found. so i will have to re-disassemble the saw and try to figure out the leak/ no run problem. if i do not find the problem quickly. i will fix it with my 3 lb hammer permanently! this saw from the start had a hard time even getting it started out of the box. i ended up buying the carb adjusting tool to adj. the carb so it would run. i decided to buy a stihl. even that is hard to start. at least 6 pulls cold. it eats gas fast. twice the bar oil use. the chain is junk. dulls quickly. i might try a poulan pro. i read to gap the plug to 30 thousandths. or even those are hard to start. that came from a 3 year owner that had start problems. so much for wood cutting. im beginning to think its easier to hire an idiot to do all my cutting with their own saw. my arm is toast from pulling. i'd like to see someone design an electric start saw. set aside from a cordless battery saw.
