Buying Vanguard 10hp

Hi I'm new here, I wonder if someone could help with a comparison question on the Briggs 10 hp motors, The Vanguard 19L2 10hpand the Briggs 19N132 14.5 that I see is 100.00 cheaper.

I'm replacing a 26 ton woodsplitter 8hp Intek that I screwed up no fault of Briggs. I need a motor for JF4300 lawnmower grass blower. and possible use on a generator I have. This is 3 season requirements and I don't need 3 different engines.

Are there any comments on the selections. I need a keyed 1" shaft. the mounting bolts will fit about anything. 100 dollars is 100 dollars, is the vanguard 100 better? Or is the Briggs going to be a durable comparison?

Hey thanks Lets discuss this.

Also, Checking on the Vanguard 10hp, Where is the on/off switch located or does it not have one?

Depends on the type number as what is used for shut off. Some have integrated switch, some have a toggle switch, and some have keyswitch.

As the difference between the 10 Gross hp Vanguard and 14.5 Gross ft-lbs torque engine it is about .6 less horse power on the 14.5 ft lbs @3600 rpm vs the Vanguard 10 hp @3600 rpm. Other words the Vanguard is a stronger engine plus it is commercially rated for 3 yrs commercial use warranty.

So which is best depends on the often you are going using it Homeowner use the 19N132 would be find but if heavily used then going with the Vanguard.

Thanks AVB
Sounds like its the Vanguard. I've had good luck with the Intek and have a 14 horse Vanguard on my BCS which is the best motor I've ever run. I don't usually buy cheap and like quality dependability. Only if there is basically the same type of quality and reliability.

My plan was a good strong motor that I could use for various tasks like woodsplitter, extra water pump, mower vacuum to collect mulch for garden. I live a 100 acre life and have 5 current small motors on various things, not including 4 wheelers and snowmobiles. To many small engines to service yearly.

Thanks for your reply.
