Honda HA 4120 riding lawnmower battery light stays on

The battery light stays on. Replaced battery. The light is still on. Before the new battery it seemed the battery wasn't being charged. Does this model have an alternator? The manual stated there could be three things wrong...1. excessive load on charging system. 2. Charging system not working or disconnected. 3. Voltage regulator broken. Where is the "charging system"???

Stator aka alternator is under flywheel, produces ac which is rectified thru voltage regulator to dc. Voltage then charges battery.
I would check connections first to battery and make sure ground on voltage reg. is not lose. If you have a multimeter, then while mower is running check voltage at the battery.

Voltage regulator is bolted to the frame. No ac going to the battery

Pulled off flywheel to look at staters. Covered in mouse doo doo, etc. Do stators go bad?

It would be DC voltage at battery.
Yes it can go bad.
Easiest way would be to check ac voltage output of stator.

My son tested the stators and said there was no ac. I need to replace them now. I didn't see them on Jacks website. Do you know where I can get some (3)? Can Jack order them for me?

So while running no Ac from stator wires. Magnets in good shape? Looks like your engine is GXV620? Below is a link for the charge coil assembly, jacks may also have them.

I can't tell you the stress that I've had over this mower. It's my favorite piece of equipment and I've babied it for 19 years. You have really been a Godsend. I am truly blessed to access your expertise. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Put in the new charge coil. The wires were twice as thick as before. Flywheel chewed them up on the first start-up. Repaired the wiring. Success...the battery light is off during operation...BUT...BUT...the battery is not being charged during operation. New voltage regulator...new charge coil assembly...what's next?

With mower off what voltage is on the battery terminals? When running full throttle on battery cables what is the voltage? At least the light is off, lol.
