New HONDA EU 7000is Issue
Hi folks!
First off, I did attempt to contact Honda Technical support with my issue, but they only referred me to a dealer. I live in the Dominican Republic and there are no service centers here to my knowledge. So….I need some help from someone who may know! I am an electrical automation engineer that knows a little bit about a lot of stuff!!! HA!!
I own a new HONDA EU 7000is generator. The generator (Gasoline only) has 80 hours of use. When I first started running the generator it gave us about 50 hours of perfect operation.
I changed the oil with the proper weight at the proper hours required of a new generator. I changed the oil again at about 70 hours of use. I have replaced the battery.
The problem is that the generator exhaust is very black (smoke) and I have replaced and / or cleaned) the spark plug 6, maybe 7 times because it gets dirty (full of carbon) quickly. (The spark plug is the correct one as described in the owner’s manual as well as the “gap” is set properly).
I checked the compression and it is where it should be.
I also cleaned the “spark arrestor” at the exhaust, and it was almost fully plugged with black carbon.
The only other thing I thought was of is the condition or the air filter. It is still perfectly clean, which surprised me. We live in a “semi dusty” area. The filter looks brand new!
It won’t start anymore and just “belches” a thick cloud of black smoke. I have owned other generators, (diesel, gas and propane) marine and otherwise, and have not ever seen this issue before. I thought about the “lean mixture” not being correct, but I don’t think there is a way to adjust it. I also added some “injector cleaner” at around 60 hours with no kind of positive result.
There are two unrelated fault codes stored in the display. The generator ran out of gasoline and I think it produced a “low voltage” error. The other related to the battery.
So I am at a loss and looking for some support with this problem.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and support!
Respectfully,
Ken
