Troy Bilt Junior front shaft seal replacement

SEAL-PINION SHAFT PT/85030/00
Hello all I need to replace this front shaft seal. I can't find any instructions/video on how to do it. Any help would be appreciated.
Troy Bilt Junior
Serial # M011591
The seal at the front of the transmission unit.

Thanks in advance

I believe it is pre-91 and doesn't have an actual model number. Everything I looked up told me prior to 91 they just went by the model which this is a junior. But then again I'm not sure. Thanks for any help.

Can you post where you found the part #?  Or is it on the seal itself..

Looking up the part # itself, the seal doesn't seem to be anything special.

To remove, W/O full disassembly, you can drill a small hole in the seal. Be VERY, VERY careful
not to nick the shaft.  Drive /spin in a sheet metal screw in the hole just deep enough that it grabs tight.
Gently pry/pull on the screw, the seal should come with it.

That is correct. It is just the front seal. I wasn't sure if I could remove and replace without full disassemble. Just wanted to run it by someone. I have replaced wheel and tine seals before. This one is a little different. It is recessed about 2" into the transmission housing in the front. Looks like I willl have to remove the engine and all the pulleys just to access it. Wish me luck.

    Good luck of course!

Also, with it being that recessed, use a small punch on the seal to help keep it from "walking".

A thin piece of sheet metal, bent around the shaft, will help protect the shaft when drilling.

PVC pipe, the correct size, should help with the installation..
