Generac 5500

Hello, I just rescued a very nice Generac 5500 from an estate sale. I was told the unit was used once. Judging by the condition of the gas that was left in the tank and the dirt accumulated on the machine, I believe it has sat for several years at least. I have it cleaned, flushed and running nice. I just noticed the hour meter is not working. I have power going  to the meter so I believe the meter is bad. My question is, can I use an after market  meter or does it need to be a Generac meter. Thanks in advance.

Thank you very much for your quick response. I give that a try.
