Briggs Vanguard V-twin question!
I have a Briggs Vanguard, 14HP horizontal shaft V-twin, that needs a crankshaft. It is a Model 294447, Type 1257-E1. There seems to be so many crankshaft numbers for Vanguards, and I have some questions.
1. Will vertical cranks fit horizontal Vanguards?
2. Will 14 and 16hp cranks all interchange, as long as they are horizontal V-twins?
3. Will most generator heads fit the tapered shaft?
The one I have is from a Porter Cable BSV800. 8000w, but I would replace the generator head with a 5500, 5000, 6250w if I can't find an 8000W, if the tapered cranks are all the same.
I have mine from a generator with a tapered shaft. The generator went bad, froze up on the shaft, and I had to saw it off. I tried everything, but it wouldn't budge! I want to replace the shaft, either with another tapered shaft, and try to find a generator head, or replace the shaft with a straight one, and sell just the engine.
Any help/advice would be most appreciated!
