Tiller Fuel Issues...
Good afternoon all!
I was given a front tine tiller with a brand name of Maxim. Has a B&S model # 135202. First thing was the fuel tank was all rusty - filthy! dropped $150 or so on a new one from Jack's. Installed it - fit like a glove! Removed the carb. and replaced the diaphragm, spring and spring base, blew out all the orifices with carb cleaner in both the diaphragm cover and carb. Blew out the jet on the bottom as well as the intake and screen covering it. Went to store and got (allegedly) non-ethanol fuel in a dedicated gas can.
Pulled and pulled - nothing. Checked spark - Nice & sparky ;-) Resorted to a couple squirts on starting fluid, and she fired right up! - For about 10 seconds, then died. Repeated this a couple of times - still dying after 10-15 seconds....basically running on the starting fluid.
I went back to ground zero....Removed the carb, cleaned all the orifices again - even put a second brand new diaphragm and spring in it. While apart this time I noticed that the little reservoir under the carb was full, so she is pumping gas from the tank. Got it all back together...
It will crank if I give it starting fluid, and keep running on it's own, til any type of load is put on it - i.e. engage the tines - and it dies. Will not start back without starting fluid, but will run if I start it with the fluid.
I would appreciate any ideas that ya'll might have to get this beck going again. I'm all out of ideas ;-)
Thanks!
